[ARCHIVED] City of Peoria Reminds Residents to use Caution on the Roads after Snow Event

Public Works Logo

The City of Peoria Department of Public Works would like to remind residents to use extra caution and allow for extra time when traveling on area roadways throughout tonight and into tomorrow morning.

Public Works crews have been treating the City’s main arterial streets, hills, bridges, and overpasses throughout the day and will continue to do so throughout the evening and overnight. City streets are slick, but very passable.

Residential street plowing occurs once 2 inches of snow has fallen after primary streets have been plowed, and the snow has stopped falling.

When traveling, please slow down and give yourself extra distance between your vehicle and other vehicles, including plow trucks – remember, don’t crowd the plow. Braking early to anticipate slowing down or stopping, as well as accelerating and decelerating gently are good practices to follow while driving in the snow.

The City’s winter weather plan offers more information regarding this snow event and future winter weather.
