The City of Peoria expects to see its next round of snowfall starting tomorrow morning and lasting throughout most of the day. Forecasted snow accumulations range from 3 to 7 inches during this timeframe.
Public Works crews will apply liquid pretreatments to overpasses and hills overnight. Snowfighters will begin around-the-clock operations tomorrow morning and will focus on plowing and treating the City’s primary roads and emergency snow routes as the snow falls.
As a reminder, residential street treatment occurs once 2 inches of snow has fallen in the City and the snow has stopped. No parking on snow routes is automatically enforced when 2 inches or more of snow is forecasted. No parking on these routes will remain in effect for 48 hours.
Due to the forecasted conditions of this storm – periods of heavy snow and wind gusts up to 25 mph – travel may become hazardous, especially during the afternoon and evening. Residents are reminded to:
- Stay home, if possible.
- Slow down, accelerate and brake gradually, and use extreme caution.
- Give yourself extra distance between your vehicle and snowplows.
- Carry an emergency kit in your vehicle.
