Previously Reported:
(PEORIA, IL) Thursday, May 22, 2025, at approximately 12:54 p.m., Peoria Police responded to a Shot Spotter alert of 17 rounds fired in the 2600 block of N. Bootz Avenue.
When officers arrived, they located an adult male (19 years old) with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Special Investigations Division (SID), Crime Scene Unit (CSU), Neighborhood Services Unit (NSU), and Patrol Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.
Currently, there is no suspect information. This incident is under investigation.
UPDATE 5/23/25
On Thursday, May 23, 2025, Peoria Detectives detained five males as persons of interest.
The males were transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes.
During the course of the investigation, a search of a residence connected to the subjects in the 400 block of W. Hanssler was conducted by detectives.
During a search of the residence, police located three handguns inside.
Police arrested a 15-year-old male for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Possession of a Handgun Under 21.
A 16-year-old male was arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Possession of a Handgun Under 21.
Both juveniles were transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
Police also arrested 18-year-old Zahir Graham for Unlawful Use of a Weapon. He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
This incident remains under investigation.
