Green Infrastructure restoration work has commenced throughout the City’s numerous green infrastructure areas and native prairies. Work includes removing soil and plant material, soil amendments, and planting.
Work has started in the Combined Sewer Overflow Control Project Year 1 Area, which includes:
• NE Perry Avenue from Caroline Street to Mary Street.
• NE Madison Avenue from Laveille Street to Mary Street.
• NE Monroe Street from Laveille Street to Mary Street.
Tentatively and depending on the weather, work will begin this week at the University Street and Main Street Intersection. Following the completion of this work, the schedule will be as follows:
• The Warehouse District planter boxes along:
o SW Washington Street from Maple Street to Liberty Street.
o SW Adams Street from Maple Street to Walnut Street.
o Oak Street from SW Jefferson Avenue to SW Washington Street.
o State Street from SW Adams Street to SW Water Street.
• The bioswales along MacArthur Highway
• The Washington Street Prairie near the Bob Michel Bridge.
• The native prairie at the Public Works Facility, 3505 N Dries Lane.
Work will also take place throughout the year at the following locations:
• Along Northmoor Road from N Allen Road to N University Street.
• In the E Nebraska Avenue Bioswale, located between N California Avenue and N New York Avenue.
• In the planter boxes along SW Adams Street from Pecan Street to Persimmon Street.
• In the right-of-ways along S Western Avenue from W Wiswall Street to SW Adams Street.
While work is being performed in these areas, temporary parking restrictions and sidewalk closures will occur. Drivers and pedestrians should be mindful of these restrictions and closures.
