Beginning at 9 a.m. and lasting until 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, numerous roads and intersections along the MacArthur Highway corridor will be restricted due to the Ernestine Jackson Juneteenth Freedom Day Parade, sponsored by the NAACP Peoria Branch.
Drivers should exercise caution along the parade route and follow all marked detours. The use of alternative routes is advised.
Parade Route
• The parade will begin on S. MacArthur Highway, just south of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park. The parade will travel north on S. MacArthur Highway, east on W. John Gwynn Jr. Avenue, south on S. Richard Pryor Place, southeast on Persimmon Street, west on S.W. Jefferson Avenue, and will end at the intersection of S.W. Jefferson Avenue and S. MacArthur Highway.
Road Closures – 9 a.m.

• New Street at S. MacArthur Highway.
• S.W. Howett Street at Linden Street.
• W. Howett Street at S. MacArthur Highway.
• W. Millman Street at S. MacArthur Highway.
• W. Millman Street at Linden Street.
Road Closures – 11:30 a.m.
• S. MacArthur Highway at S.W. Jefferson Avenue to W. Moss Avenue.
• Persimmon Street at S.W. Jefferson Avenue.
• Brotherson Street at S. MacArthur Highway.
• W. McBean Street at S. MacArthur Highway and at N. Richard Pryor Place.
• W. Johnson Street at S. MacArthur Highway and at N. Richard Pryor Place.
• W. Smith Street at S. MacArthur Highway.
• W. Hurlburt Street at S. MacArthur Highway and at N. Richard Pryor Place.
• W. Aiken Avenue at S. MacArthur Highway.
• W. Adrian G. Hinton Jr. Avenue at S. MacArthur Highway.

Parking Restrictions
• Parking restrictions will be in effect along the parade route from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Detour Route
• Drivers should utilize the detour routes of W. Howett Street to S. Western Avenue to W. Bradley Avenue, and W. Bradley Avenue to S. Western Avenue to W. Lincoln Avenue.
