(PEORIA, IL) Sunday, June 8, 2025, at approximately 8:16 p.m., Peoria Police were dispatched to the 3100 block of N. Sterling on a report of a vehicle that crashed into a business.
When officers arrived, they observed a vehicle that had crashed into the south side of a business (Sharkey’s). Two patrons inside the restaurant sustained minor injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 27-year-old Malika R. Gillum, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital and later released to police.
Gillum was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence, and issued citations for Failing to Reduce Speed, Improper Traffic Lane Usage, Disregarding a Traffic Control Light, No Valid Registration, DUI Intoxicating Compound, and Aggravated DUI Accident-Causing Bodily Harm.
She was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
