(PEORIA, IL) On Saturday, June 21, 2025, at approximately 7:43 p.m., Peoria Police were dispatched to the 1400 block of S. Livingston (Logan Park) on a report of a large crowd of over 250 people and numerous juveniles fighting.
Peoria Park District Police and Peoria Police collaborated to disperse the crowd and clear the park in the interest of public safety.
Following the event's conclusion, members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) and Task Force attempted to detain a juvenile male in connection with an earlier Armed Robbery.
As officers attempted to make contact with the juvenile, he fled on foot.
A K-9 unit and an aerial drone were deployed in a coordinated search.
The juvenile (17 years old) was eventually apprehended in the 2300 block of Malone and taken into custody without further incident.
During a search of the juvenile’s flight path, officers located two discarded handguns.
The juvenile was arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (2 counts), Possession of a Handgun Under 21 (2 counts), Possession of a Firearm with no Valid FOID Card (2 counts), Possession of Ammunition with no FOID (2 counts), Obstructing Police, and Resisting Arrest.
He was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
