[ARCHIVED] Aggravated Battery with a Firearm

(PEORIA, IL) On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at approximately 9:08 p.m., Peoria Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of E. McClure Avenue on a report of two individuals who had been shot.

Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old female with a gunshot wound to the leg and a 14-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the hand. Both juveniles were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

During the course of the investigation, officers learned that the male juvenile had a firearm in his pocket, which discharged accidentally, striking both himself and the female.

While conducting a search of the residence, officers discovered two firearms and a large quantity of stolen merchandise with store tags and anti-theft devices still attached.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) then made contact with a 15-year-old male who resides at the location where the incident occurred. He was transported to the Peoria Police Department for an interview and subsequently arrested for the following offenses:

• Possession of a Firearm Under 21

• No FOID

• Possession of Ammunition Under 21

• Unlawful Use of a Weapon

He was later released into the custody of a parent.

The 14-year-old male was arrested for:

• Reckless Discharge of a Firearm

• Unlawful Use of a Weapon

• Possession of a Firearm Under 21

• No FOID

He will be transported to the Juvenile Detention Center upon his release from medical care.

The 16-year-old female was arrested in connection with a business burglary (Case #25-11909). She will also be transported to the Juvenile Detention Center following her release from medical care.
