[ARCHIVED] Aggravated Battery with a Firearm

(PEORIA, IL) On Sunday, August 24, 2025, at approximately 2:07 a.m., Peoria Police responded to multiple ShotSpotter activations in the 2700 block of W. Trewyn and the 2600 block of Roosevelt, indicating a total of 19 rounds fired.

Upon arrival, officers observed two males fleeing the area. Both were apprehended near the 2000 block of S. Friedan and identified as a 17-year-old male and 24-year-old Elijah C. Irby.
During a search of the suspects’ flight path, officers recovered two firearms, one of which was reported stolen.

During the course of the investigation, officers were advised that two adult male victims, ages 23 and 31, had arrived at a local hospital by private vehicle with gunshot wounds. Both are currently listed in stable condition.

The 17-year-old male was arrested for Possession of a Handgun Under 21, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, No FOID, Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Possession of a Weapon by a Felon. He was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.

Irby was arrested for Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm Without a FOID Card, Resisting Police, Obstructing an Officer, and an Active Warrant. He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
