(PEORIA, IL) On Saturday, September 27, 2025, at approximately 1:05 a.m., Peoria Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1800 block of N. Bigelow Avenue for multiple traffic violations.
During the course of the stop, officers developed probable cause to search the vehicle. The search resulted in the recovery of two firearms inside the vehicle.
The driver, identified as 21-year-old Amarion M. Johnson, was arrested for the following offenses:
• Defacing Identification Marks of a Firearm
• Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon
• Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon
• Possession of a Firearm without a Valid FOID Card
• Unlawful Possession of Firearm Ammunition without a FOID Card
• Unlawful Possession of Cannabis
• Several Traffic Violations
The passenger, identified as 23-year-old Jaivon M. Johnson, was arrested for the following offenses:
• Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon
• Unlawful Possession of a Firearm without a Valid FOID Card
• Unlawful Possession of Firearm Ammunition without a FOID Card
• Possession of Cannabis
Both subjects were transported to the Peoria County Jail.
