(PEORIA, IL) On Sunday, November 16, 2025, at approximately 6:37 p.m., Peoria Police officers responded to the intersection of Sheridan Road and Nebraska Avenue regarding a multi-vehicle collision. Preliminary investigation shows that a speeding vehicle failed to stop for a red light, leading to the crash.
Upon arrival, officers observed three heavily damaged vehicles, one of which was fully engulfed in flames. Officers immediately began triaging injured individuals and secured the intersection to ensure the safety of first responders and the public.
Five people involved in the crash were transported to a local hospital; four of them sustained serious injuries. All are expected to survive. The at-fault driver, a 41-year-old male, sustained severe burns and was flown to Chicago for specialized burn care. Additionally, a male bystander suffered minor facial burns while helping remove a victim from the burning vehicle.
No arrests have been made at this time. The cause of the collision remains under active investigation.
