Nov. 30, 2025 (Peoria, IL) Following this weekend’s first snowstorm, the City of Peoria Public Works Department is preparing for another round of winter weather. Forecasts predict 2 to 4 inches of snow beginning between noon and 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1, and continuing until approximately 3 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2.
Crews will remain on 12-hour, around-the-clock shifts as they finalize work in residential neighborhoods ahead of the next storm. Once snowfall begins, the City of Peoria Snowfighters will shift their focus back to treating and plowing the main arterial routes.
Residential plowing will resume only after:
• At least 2 inches of snow have accumulated,
• Arterial routes have been cleared, and
• Snow has stopped falling.
As a reminder, no parking on emergency snow routes is automatically in effect whenever 2 inches or more of snow is forecasted. This parking restriction will remain in place for 48 hours to support plowing operations.
Due to the timing of this system, Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes may be impacted. Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time, reduce speeds, and use extra caution, as roads may quickly become snow-covered.
