(PEORIA, IL) On Friday, January 23, 2026, at approximately 1:59 p.m., Peoria Police responded to a report of a traffic-related incident involving an 11-year-old male who was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of N. Gale Avenue and N. Douglas Street.
Upon arrival, officers located the juvenile victim, who reported that he was riding a scooter in the roadway when he was struck by a tan-colored vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene prior to police arrival.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor leg injuries.
Officers canvassed the surrounding area in an attempt to locate the suspect vehicle; however, those efforts were unsuccessful.
This incident remains under investigation.
