(PEORIA, IL) On Sunday, January 25, 2026, at approximately 7:10 p.m., Peoria Police were dispatched to the 500 block of E. Melbourne Avenue in reference to a reported vehicle stolen.
During the investigation, officers observed the stolen vehicle traveling westbound on Nebraska Avenue from Wisconsin Avenue. When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. Due to safety considerations, officers did not pursue.
A short time later, officers located the stolen vehicle, which had crashed at the intersection of Nebraska Avenue and Hampton Street. No injuries were reported. Three subjects exited the vehicle and fled the area on foot.
One suspect, identified as a 16-year-old male, was apprehended by officers after a brief foot pursuit in the 2100 block of North Street. The remaining suspects were not located.
The juvenile was arrested for Criminal Trespass to a Vehicle and Resisting a Peace Officer and was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
This incident remains under investigation.
