(PEORIA, IL) Monday, December 4, 2023, at approximately 12:17 a.m. Peoria Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of S. Shelly on a report of a Home Invasion.
When officers arrived, they made contact with the adult male victim who told officers four male suspects forced their way into his residence. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun. The suspects stole personal items from the residence and stole the
victim’s vehicle. The victim was not injured.
On December 4th at approximately 3:00 p.m. members of the Peoria Police Department’s Special Investigations Division (SID) and the Greater Peoria Area Auto Theft Task Force (GPACT) located the stolen vehicle in the 1600 block of N. Lehman Road. Officers observed a 17-year-old male enter the vehicle and begin to drive away.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and the juvenile then fled on foot. After a brief foot chase the male juvenile was apprehended and transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes.
The juvenile was subsequently arrested for Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle. He was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
This incident remains under investigation.
