[ARCHIVED] 12/7/23 Armed Robbery (UPDATE)

(PEORIA, IL) On Thursday, June 30, 2022, at approximately 11:15 p.m. Peoria Police were dispatched to the 2400 block of N. University regarding a cab driver robbed at gunpoint.
When police arrived, the cab driver told officers she was dispatched to the 900 block of W. McClure where two male juveniles approached her cab and asked her to drive them to the 1700 block of E. Kansas.
When the two males entered the vehicle, the victim told police they pointed handguns at her and demanded money. They took a small amount of cash and fled the vehicle on foot. The driver was not injured.
Police immediately set up a perimeter and a K-9 was brought in to track the suspects but had negative results.
This incident is under investigation by Peoria Police.

***UPDATE***
On Wednesday, September 7, 2022, members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) arranged to interview a 17-year-old male juvenile currently in custody at the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center (JDC). The juvenile was transported to the Peoria Police Department to be interviewed in reference to multiple ongoing robbery investigations.
During the investigation, officers determined the juvenile was a participant in the Armed Robbery that took place on June 30, 2022 (22-12082), as well as an Armed Robbery and Motor Vehicle Theft that occurred on July 26, 2022. (22-13841 & 22-13842)
The juvenile was subsequently arrested for two counts of Armed Robbery and one count of Motor Vehicle Theft.
He was returned to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
This incident is still under investigation.
***UPDATE*** 
Wednesday, September 14, 2022, members of the Peoria Police Department’s Special Investigations Division (SID) and Criminal Investigations Division (CID) conducted surveillance on a residence in the 1100 block of W. Virginia. Officers were able to locate a 16-year-old male connected to this incident.
The juvenile was transported to the Peoria Police Department to be interviewed in reference to multiple on-going robbery investigations.
During the investigation, officers determined the juvenile was a participant in the Armed Robbery that took place on June 30, 2022 (22-12082), as well as an Armed Robbery and Motor Vehicle Theft that occurred on July 26, 2022. (22-13841 & 22-13842). The juvenile was also arrested for an Armed Robbery that occurred on June 23, 2022 (22-11571) and an Armed Robbery that took place on August 7, 2022 (22-14648).
He was transported to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
This incident is still under investigation.

***UPDATE***
On Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at approximately 9:24 a.m. members of the Peoria Police Department’s Special Investigations Division (SID), and Criminal Investigations Division (CID) went to a residence in the 1100 block of W. Hanssler to locate a suspect tied to multiple armed robbery cases.
Officers located 19-year-old Omarvelous M. Blakes and a 17-year-old male in inside the home. Blakes was wanted for the Armed Robbery that occurred on June 23, 2022 (22-11571) and the Armed Robbery that occurred on August 7, 2022 (22-14648).
During this investigation, officers located 2 firearms and illegal drugs near the two subjects. One of the firearms was reported stolen. Both subjects were taken into custody without incident.
Blakes was arrested for Armed Robbery (2 counts), Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Under 21, Defacing a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance. Blakes was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
The juvenile was arrested for Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Under 21, Defacing a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
