(PEORIA, IL) Friday, January 26, 2024, at approximately 6:37 a.m. members of the Peoria Police Department’s Special Investigations Division (SID), SWAT and Patrol Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1000 block of W. Wilcox regarding weapon-related offenses. (23-19074, 24-1156)
Once inside the residence, officers located and seized a handgun and ammunition.
Police also located 18-year-old Taiwand L. Hughes, a suspect in those incidents inside the residence.
Hughes was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes and subsequently arrested for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession
of a Handgun Under 21, and Possession of a Firearm without a Valid FOID Card.
Hughes was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
