Monday, April 22, 2024, at approximately 10:14 p.m. Peoria Police responded to the 200 block of N. MacArthur on a Shot Spotter alert of 8 rounds fired.
While en route officers received four additional alerts on Third Street and MacArthur totaling 27 shots fired. No one was injured.
While on the scene of the first Shot Spotter officers observed two males running southbound across W. John Gwynn Jr.
After a brief foot chase officers apprehended one of the subjects identified as an 11-year-old male in the 100 block of McReynolds Ct. Officers also located a handgun in the area where the juvenile was apprehended. The second male was not located.
The juvenile was transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes and subsequently arrested for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Resisting Police.
The male was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
