[ARCHIVED] 5/9/24 Aggravated Discharge

(PEORIA, IL) Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at approximately 8:34 p.m. Peoria Police responded to the 1700 block of S. Ligonier on a Shot Spotter alert of 26 rounds fired.
When officers arrived, they did not locate any victims. Police did locate a discarded AR-15 magazine and shell casings in the roadway at Grinnell and Ligonier. The shooting suspect was not located.
At approximately 9:35 p.m. police learned that a 9-month-old child arrived at a local hospital with injuries from glass fragments. The child was inside a vehicle that was struck by gunfire in the 1800 block of S. Griswold. The child’s injuries were non-life threatening.
Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) responded to the hospital, while members of the Department’s Crime Scene Unit (CSU), and Patrol Unit responded to the area where the Shot Spotter occurred and initiated an investigation.
There is currently no suspect information. This incident is under investigation.
