(PEORIA, IL) Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at approximately 9:16 p.m. members of the Peoria Police Department’s Special Investigations Division (SID) attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Sheridan and Bartlett.
The vehicle eventually came to a stop at the intersection of Brons and Bourland. Two male juveniles then exited the vehicle from the passenger side and fled on foot. The driver of the vehicle drove away at a
high rate of speed.
After a brief foot chase police apprehended a 17-year-old male.
During a search of the juvenile, officers located a loaded handgun on his person. The other juvenile and the driver of the vehicle were not located.
The 17-year-old was charged with Resisting Police, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, No FOID, and Unlawful Possession of a Handgun Under 21.
He was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
