[ARCHIVED] 5/28/24 Aggravated Fleeing & Eluding/ Hit & Run

(PEORIA, IL) Saturday, May 25, 2024, at approximately 10:58 p.m. members of the Peoria Police Department’s Special Investigations Division (SID) attempted to stop a vehicle at Nebraska and Knoxville for a traffic violation.
The driver of the vehicle did not stop and drove away at a high rate of speed. Officers did not pursue.
While fleeing from officers the suspect vehicle failed to stop at a red light at Nebraska and Sheridan and struck two vehicles. Two male occupants from the suspect vehicle then exited and fled on foot. The occupants of the other two vehicles sustained minor 
injuries.
When officers approached the suspect vehicle, they located a      17-year-old male in the backseat. The male sustained significant injuries from the crash and was transported to a local hospital in critical but stable condition. Officers also located drugs and drug packaging inside the vehicle.
The two fleeing suspects were not located. 
This incident is under investigation.
