[ARCHIVED] 6/17/24 Aggravated Battery

(PEORIA, IL) Sunday, June 16, 2024, at approximately 4:52 p.m. Peoria Police were called to the 700 block of E. Kansas on a report of a child who had been shot.
When officers arrived, they located the 8-year-old male victim outside the residence with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. The child was immediately transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Crime Scene Unit (CSU), and Patrol Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.
During the course of the investigation, officers learned that one male juvenile and one adult male identified as 26-year-old Micah D. Stitts were present when the shooting occurred. The juvenile fled the scene and was not located.
Micah Stitts was transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes and subsequently arrested for an Active Warrant and Endangering the Health and Life of a Child.
Michah Stitts was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
This incident remains under investigation.
