Previously Reported:
(PEORIA, IL) Thursday, August 31, 2023, at approximately 10:20 a.m. Peoria Police responded to a residence in the 800 block of S. Helen on a call of shots fired and someone shot.
When
officers arrived, they located an adult male down inside the residence with apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The cause and manner of death will be released by the Peoria County Coroner.
Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Special Investigations Division (SID) Neighborhood Services Unit (NSU) Crime Scene Unit (CSU), and Patrol Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. Members of the Peoria County Sheriff’s Department also responded to
the scene to assist with this investigation.
There is currently no suspect information. This incident is under investigation.
UPDATE: 7/2/24
During the course of this investigation, Peoria Police Detectives were able to identify a suspect in this case as 24-year-old Rashaard K. Nunn.
On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, members of the Peoria Police Department’s Special Investigations Division (SID) executed a court-authorized search warrant at a residence in the 1400 block of W. Glen. During this search warrant, Nunn was taken into custody.
Nunn was transported to the Peoria Police Department for interview purposes.
Nunn was subsequently arrested for First Degree Murder in connection with this incident. He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
