(PEORIA, IL) Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at approximately 8:41 p.m. Peoria Police were conducting an investigation in the 1300 block of SW Phoenix when they heard a gunshot.
Officers quickly ran to the area where the shot was fired and located an adult male with a gunshot wound to his ankle in the 1200 block of St. Martin. The victim was then transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Crime Scene Unit (CSU), and Patrol Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.
During a search of the area officers located a discarded handgun in the 1200 block of SW St. Martin where the shooting occurred.
This incident is under investigation. There is currently no suspect information.
