(PEORIA, IL) On Saturday, February 4, 2023, members of the Peoria Police Department’s Special Investigations Division (SID) observed a vehicle that was reported stolen travelling southbound on Union from Moss. Officers immediately followed the vehicle at a safe distance and requested more officers to respond to the area.
At
approximately 7:43 p.m. SID officers attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle at Richard Allen and Romeo Garrett. The vehicle failed to stop and sped away at a high rate of speed. A short time later the vehicle was located in the 800 block of W. Hurlburt. Officers observed two juveniles flee from the vehicle on foot.
After a brief foot pursuit, SID and Patrol officers detained both juveniles.
The 15-year-old female was arrested for Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle and Resisting Police. She was transported to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
The 14-year-old male was arrested for Criminal Trespass to a Vehicle and Resisting Police. He was later released to his family.
