Previously Reported:
(PEORIA, IL) – Thursday, December 19, 2024, at approximately 2:58 p.m. Peoria Police responded to OSF Medical Center regarding an unresponsive 13-month-old child. Officers were advised the baby had been administered an over-the-counter medication and had arrived via ambulance from Methodist.
The child remained hospitalized in critical condition. DCFS and the Pediatric Resource Center were immediately notified. Detectives spoke with the child's guardians as well as hospital staff and initiated an investigation.
On December 27, 2024, the child was pronounced deceased at OSF.
Friday, January 10, 2025, Tasheaunna R. Williams (26 years of age) and Nausicca Thomas (27 years of age) were taken into custody without incident in Morton, Illinois, and transported to the Criminal Investigations Division for interview purposes.
Williams and Thomas were subsequently arrested for Aggravated Battery, Endangering the Life and Health of a Child, and Reckless Conduct. Williams and Thomas were transported to the Peoria County Jail.
UPDATE: 02/26/25
Tuesday, February 25, 2025, the Peoria County Grand Jury returned a direct indictment for First Degree Murder for Tasheaunna R. Williams and Nausicca Thomas in the death of a 13-month-old infant in December 2024.
US Marshals, members of SID and CID took Williams and Thomas into custody at approximately 4:30 p.m. in the 3400 block of W. Fallen Oak without incident.
Williams and Thomas were arrested for the no-bond First Degree Murder warrants and Animal Cruelty due to a cat found in poor condition inside of a closet.
Williams and Thomas were transported to the Peoria County Jail.
