The City of Peoria is expected to be impacted by severe weather between 8-11 pm tonight, Friday, March 14.
Potential severe weather hazards include strong thunderstorms capable of producing damaging straight-line winds over 75 mph or tornadoes and 2-inch diameter hail.
Public Works crews will be on standby to clear debris from roadways, alleys, and sidewalks after the storm has passed and it is safe to resume operations. In the event of widespread damage or large-scale debris cleanup, around-the-clock operations will begin and continue until further notice.
Residents who need to report a downed tree or limb that is blocking a street, alley, or sidewalk should do so in the following ways:
• Contact Public Works
o By phone at 309-494-8800
o By email at publicworks@peoriagov.org
• Peoria Cares
o By phone at 309-494-2273 (Mondays-Fridays from 8 am to 6 pm, Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm)
o Through the Peoria Cares App
o Or by using the Peoria Cares Website Map.
Residents are reminded that storm debris should be bundled with a nonmetallic cord, be no longer than five feet in length, weigh no more than 50 pounds, and be set out to the curb on their normal GFL collection day.
With the potential of high straight-line winds, residents are also reminded to stay far away from downed power lines and to immediately call Ameren Illinois (800)-755-5000. Never attempt to drive over or move a downed power line.
