(PEORIA, IL) Friday, March 14, 2025, at approximately 10:45 a.m. Peoria Police were called to the 800 block of S. Griswold Street (Manual High School) on a report of a student with a handgun in his backpack.
The school was immediately placed on lockdown and School Resource Officers detained the student until Peoria Police arrived. When officers arrived, they made contact with the 15-year-old male.
During a search of the juvenile’s backpack officers located a loaded handgun. No one was injured.
The student was placed into custody and transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes and subsequently arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of a Firearm Under 21, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, No FOID, Possession of a Firearm, and Disorderly Conduct.
The juvenile was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
