(PEORIA, IL) Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at approximately 12:49 a.m. Peoria Police were dispatched to the 2700 block of W. Malone on a report of people fighting. Before arriving at the above location, officers were informed that a person in the group was armed with a handgun.
When police arrived, they observed an adult male armed with a handgun fleeing from the scene on foot.
After a brief foot chase officers apprehended the subject identified as 31-year-old Albert A. Smolley. Police also located a handgun with an extended magazine on the ground next to Smolley.
Smolley was subsequently arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Possession of a Firearm Projectile, Possession of a Firearm without a Valid FOID Card, Resisting Police, and Obstructing an Officer.
He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
