(PEORIA, IL) Thursday, April 24, 2025, at approximately 11:56 p.m., Peoria Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Liberty and SW Washington.
While making contact with the occupants inside, officers found probable cause to search the vehicle.
While conducting a search of the vehicle, police located and seized a handgun inside.
The backseat passenger, identified as 21-year-old George D. Lewis Jr., was subsequently arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Officers also arrested the driver, identified as 23-year-old Shamar T. Jones, for driving on a Suspended License.
Both males were transported to the Peoria County Jail.
