Previously Reported:
(PEORIA, IL) Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., while driving down the 200 block of MacArthur Highway, police observed a male lying in the roadway with an apparent gunshot wound to the leg.
Minutes later, a Shot Spotter alert was received at that location, indicating 5 rounds were fired.
The 14-year-old male victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Crime Scene Unit (CSU), and Patrol Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.
This incident remains under investigation. Currently, there is no suspect information.
UPDATE: 5/6/2025
During the course of this investigation, Peoria Detectives identified 18-year-old Kavione D. McCall as a suspect in this case.
On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, Peoria Police located a stolen vehicle in the 1600 block of N. Missouri.
A short time later, police observed four subjects exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot (25-8246).
After a brief chase, all of the subjects were apprehended without further incident. One of the subjects was McCall.
McCall was transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes and subsequently arrested for Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and No FOID.
McCall was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
