Beginning at 7 am on Monday, May 12, N University Street will close to traffic at the intersection of W Pioneer Parkway. The closure is necessary as part of the Pioneer Parkway and University Street Intersection Reconstruction Project and is expected to last five weeks, weather permitting.
Major delays can be expected in the area. Drivers should utilize the marked detour route and use extra caution in the area.
Lane Closures
• Both northbound lanes and the left turn lane on N University Street will be closed at the W Pioneer Parkway Intersection. Northbound University Street traffic WILL ONLY be permitted to turn right onto eastbound W Pioneer Parkway.
o Northbound University Street traffic will not be permitted to turn left onto westbound W Pioneer Parkway, or travel through the intersection and continue northbound on N University Street.
• All southbound lanes on N University Street will be closed at the W Pioneer Parkway Intersection. Southbound University Street traffic must follow the marked detour using Altorfer Drive. Business access, south of Altorfer Drive, will be maintained.
• The left turn lane on westbound W Pioneer Parkway onto southbound N University Street will be closed.
• The left turn lane on eastbound W Pioneer Parkway onto northbound N University Street will be closed.
Detour Routes
• Northbound N University Street through traffic should utilize W Willow Knolls Drive to N Allen Road. Northbound on N Allen Road, motorists should travel east on W Altorfer Drive.
o Eastbound traffic on W Pioneer Parkway needing to travel north on N University Street should travel north on N Sommer Street and then west on W Altorfer Drive.
• Southbound N University Street through traffic should utilize W Altorfer Drive to N Allen Road. Southbound on N Allen Road, motorists should travel west on W Willow Knolls Drive.
o Westbound traffic on W Pioneer Parkway needing to travel south on N University Street should travel south on N Allen Road and then west on W Willow Knolls Drive.
