(PEORIA, IL) Friday, June 6, 2025, at approximately 11:11 p.m., Peoria Police were patrolling the 8600 block of N. University when they observed a vehicle occupied by three males. One of the males was waving a firearm outside the window of the vehicle as it drove erratically through a parking lot.
When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, it fled at a high rate of speed. Police did not pursue.
During the course of this investigation, police located the vehicle abandoned at Marlene and Rosemead.
PPD drones and a Police K9 were used to search for the subjects. One of the subjects, identified as 27-year-old Kameron D. Wyatt, was apprehended in the 1700 block of W. Gaylord and taken into custody without further incident. The other vehicle occupants were not located.
During a search of Wyatt’s flight path, officers located a firearm. Police also located illegal drugs on Wyatt’s person.
Wyatt was transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes and subsequently arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Obstructing an Officer, and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis.
He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
This incident remains under investigation.
