(Peoria, IL) Thursday, June 19, 2025, at approximately 10:43 a.m. Peoria Police and the Peoria Fire Department responded to a report of an attempted arson at a residence in the 1800 block of W. Howett.
Upon arrival, fire crews were able to quickly contain and extinguish the small fire that was located on the front porch of the residence.
At the time of the incident, four occupants were inside the home. All individuals were able to evacuate safely, with no injuries.
During the course of this investigation, officers identified 19-year-old Akendra K. Metts as a suspect in this case.
At approximately 11:18 a.m. Metts returned to the scene and was apprehended by officers and taken into custody.
