(PEORIA, IL) On Sunday, June 29, 2025, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Peoria Police were dispatched to the 600 block of E. Pasadena Avenue in response to a Shot Spotter alert indicating six rounds had been fired.
When officers arrived, they did not locate any victims or suspects.
At approximately 4:42 a.m., officers were dispatched to the same location a second time for a report of individuals arguing and a male armed with a handgun.
Upon arrival, officers observed an adult male run into a residence. A short time later, the male, identified as 31-year-old Sammuel Mark Kenyon Powell, exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident.
During a search of the residence, officers located a handgun.
Powell was arrested for the following offenses:
• Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon
• Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon
• Possession of a Firearm without a Valid FOID Card
• Unlawful Possession of Firearm Ammunition without a Valid FOID Card
• Possession of a Firearm
• Felon in Possession of a Weapon while on Parole
He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
