(PEORIA, IL) On Monday, July 28, 2025, at approximately 7:44 p.m., Peoria Police responded to the 7700 block of N. Knoxville Avenue (Mt. Hawley Country Club) for a report of two children found unresponsive in the pool.
Staff had begun lifesaving efforts before officers arrived. One child (7 years old) regained consciousness at the scene; the other child (6 years old) was resuscitated in the ambulance. Both were transported to a local hospital, where the 6-year-old remains in critical condition.
At the time of the incident, the pool was closed to the public for an employee appreciation event.
The Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) was notified and responded to the scene.
This incident remains under active investigation.
