(PEORIA, IL) On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at approximately 8:57 a.m., Peoria Police officers were dispatched to the 700 block of N. Shipman Avenue following three Shot Spotter alerts. The first alert indicated nine rounds fired, the second six rounds, and the third two rounds, all occurring within 40 seconds of each other.
Upon arrival, officers did not locate any victims. While searching the area, officers identified and apprehended an adult male who matched the description of one of the shooters.
The suspect, identified as 55-year-old William E. Drummond, was taken into custody in the 700 block of W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and transported to the Peoria Police Department for further investigation.
During a search of Drummond’s flight path, officers, with the assistance of a K9, recovered a discarded firearm.
Drummond was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.
The second suspect was not located and remains at large. This incident is still under investigation.
