Armed Robbery (UPDATE BELOW)
PPD Incident #25-14136
(PEORIA, IL) Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at approximately 12:18 p.m., Peoria Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of W. Butler on a report of a postal worker robbed at gunpoint.
When officers arrived, they made contact with the female victim (62 years old), who told police she was approached by an unknown male who displayed a handgun and stole personal property from her. The victim was not injured.
The suspect then fled the scene on foot.
Police, along with a K9 officer, conducted a search of the area for the suspect with negative results.
This incident is under investigation. There is currently no suspect information.
UPDATE 9/5/25
During the course of this investigation, Peoria Police Detectives identified 28-year-old Malachi Alexander as a suspect.
On Thursday, September 4, 2025, officers located Alexander in the 2900 block of N. Rockwood. He was taken into custody without incident.
Alexander was transported to the Peoria Police Department for interview purposes and subsequently arrested for Armed Robbery. He was later booked into the Peoria County Jail.
