(PEORIA, IL) On Sunday, September 7, 2025, at approximately 3:33 a.m., Peoria Police officers were patrolling the 600 block of Main Street when they observed a group of individuals engaged in a physical altercation.
Officers immediately intervened and were able to quickly stop the fight. During the investigation, officers learned that one of the males involved had displayed a handgun during the altercation but discarded it inside a vehicle upon police arrival.
Officers approached the vehicle and observed a firearm in plain view. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a second firearm.
Police then took 33-year-old Kevin G. Cornish, who was a passenger in the vehicle, into custody without incident.
Cornish was arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Disorderly Conduct. He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
