CHICAGO — The Illinois Municipal League (IML) elected new officers to lead the association at its Annual Business Meeting, which was held on Saturday, September 20, as a part of the 112th IML Annual Conference at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.
IML membership unanimously elected Mayor Rita Ali, City of Peoria, to serve a one-year term as Second Vice President of the statewide association. Ali has served on the IML Board of Directors since 2021.
“I am proud to serve as Second Vice President of the Illinois Municipal League and to work collaboratively to support strong communities across our state,” said Ali. “I remain committed to advancing equity, innovation and opportunity – not only in Peoria, but in all communities across Illinois.”
Also elected during the IML Annual Business Meeting were Village President Sheila Chalmers-Currin, Village of Matteson, as President, and Mayor John C. Lewis, City of Mount Vernon, as First Vice President.
