[ARCHIVED] Aggravated Discharge & Aggravated Assault (UPDATE)

(PEORIA, IL) On Monday, August 11, 2025, at approximately 2:10 a.m., Peoria Police responded to the 4000 block of Brandywine for a report of a male armed with a handgun.

When officers arrived, they made contact with a 24-year-old female who reported that during an argument, an adult male physically assaulted her, displayed a handgun, and fired a shot before fleeing the scene on foot.

The victim sustained minor injuries and declined medical treatment.

Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

This incident remains under investigation.

UPDATE: 11/24/25

On Monday, August 11, 2025, Peoria Police identified 29-year-old Jalyn R. Grinslade as the suspect in this investigation.

On November 21, 2025, at approximately 2:44 a.m., Officers located a vehicle associated with Grinslade parked in the 4000 block of N. Brandywine. Officers observed a handgun in plain view inside the vehicle. A search warrant for the vehicle was subsequently authorized, and detectives recovered the firearm. The vehicle was towed as part of the investigation.

Later the same day, at approximately 1:35 p.m., Detectives observed Grinslade entering a business in the 3300 block of N. University Street. Detectives made contact and took Grinslade into custody without incident.

Grinslade was transported to the Peoria Police Department, where he was interviewed and subsequently arrested for the following charges:

• Aggravated Domestic Battery

• Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon

• Aggravated Assault with a Firearm

Officers also confirmed that Grinslade had additional active warrants for:

• Aggravated Assault with a Firearm (Case 25-23016)

• Aggravated Assault with a Firearm; Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm; Unlawful Use of a Weapon and No FOID Card (Case 25-23019)

Grinslade was transported to the Peoria County Jail.

This investigation remains ongoing.
