Dec. 1, 2025 (Peoria, IL) Snow returned to the area this afternoon as expected and is forecasted to taper off around midnight. Light snowfall is expected to continue through the evening, creating various road conditions across the City.
At this time, primary arterial streets are wet and drivable. Neighborhood roads are slushy, and slick spots remain. As temperatures drop overnight, conditions may change quickly. Drivers should be alert for the potential of flash freezing and the development of icy patches through the late evening and early morning hours.
The City of Peoria Snowfighters are treating primary roads now and will continue plowing and treating streets throughout the night as part of the ongoing 24-hour operations.
If snowfall totals reach 2 inches with this system, crews will reenter residential neighborhoods to plow and treat those streets. As a reminder, residential treatment will only occur after at least 2 inches of snow have accumulated, the snow has stopped, and the primary roads are treated.
Drivers should be mindful of slippery conditions developing throughout the overnight hours and tomorrow morning. Please use caution, reduce your speed, increase your following distance, and plan for additional travel time tonight and tomorrow morning.
