During the course of this investigation, Peoria Police Detectives identified a 17-year-old male as a suspect.

On December 11, 2025, detectives observed the juvenile in the 600 block of E. Maywood Avenue. As officers approached, the suspect fled. After a brief foot pursuit, officers apprehended him in the 2700 block of N. Bigelow Street and took him into custody without further incident.

The juvenile was transported to the Peoria Police Department for an interview and was subsequently arrested for the following charges:

• 25-21201 – First Degree Murder

• 25-20686 – Aggravated Battery with a Firearm

• 25-15434 – Aggravated Robbery/Forgery

• 25-24412 – Resisting/Obstructing Police

The juvenile also had four active warrants at the time of his arrest.

Previously Reported:

(PEORIA, IL) On Sunday, October 26, 2025, at approximately 8:18 p.m., Peoria Police were dispatched to the 3200 block of N. Isabell following a report of a male shot inside a vehicle.

When officers arrived, the victim was not located at the initial scene. Shortly thereafter, police were notified that two victims had been found inside a vehicle that had crashed into a traffic sign at the intersection of Isabell and Merle.

The adult male driver, 20 years old, sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital. The identity of the victim and the official cause of death will be released by the Peoria County Coroner.

The adult female passenger, 18 years old, suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Crime Scene Unit (CSU), and Patrol Unit responded to the scene and launched a thorough investigation.

Police are actively seeking assistance from community members and local businesses to review video surveillance footage in the following areas: from Hudson Street to McClure (north to south) and from University Street to Avalon Place/Broadway Street (west to east). Community members are encouraged to check for any suspicious persons or vehicles in the area both before and after the incident occurred.

There is currently no suspect information available. This investigation remains ongoing.
