(PEORIA, IL) On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at approximately 3:56 p.m., Peoria Police were dispatched to the 2800 block of North California Avenue in reference to an attempted motor vehicle theft.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with the 16-year-old female victim, who told police she was sitting inside her vehicle when she was approached by two unknown males. The males advised the victim that there was a wallet on the ground behind her vehicle. When the victim exited the vehicle to check, one of the males grabbed her by the arm, shoved her, and demanded her keys. The victim refused, and the males fled the area on foot. The victim was not injured.
Officers canvassed the area; however, no suspects were located. At this time, there is no suspect information available.
This incident remains under investigation.
