(PEORIA, IL) On Friday, January 23, 2026, at approximately 2:35 a.m., Peoria Police responded to the 600 block of S. Western Avenue following a ShotSpotter alert indicating approximately 15 rounds were fired.
Upon arrival, officers conducted a thorough search of the area and did not locate any victims at the scene.
At approximately 2:45 a.m., officers were notified that a 17-year-old female had arrived at a local hospital via private vehicle with a single gunshot wound to the leg. The injury was determined to be non-life threatening.
The victim reported to police that she was seated inside a vehicle when she was struck by gunfire from an unknown subject at the above location.
At this time, no suspect information is available. This incident remains under investigation.
