[ARCHIVED] Indecent Solicitation of a Child

(PEORIA, IL) On Monday, February 2, 2026, at approximately 9:23 a.m., Peoria Police officers were dispatched to the 1615 N. North Street, Peoria High School, in reference to the alleged solicitation of a minor by a school employee.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the school employee, identified as 41-year-old Daniel C. Ruffin, and a 16-year-old female student.

During the course of the investigation, officers observed text message communications on the teen’s phone that were determined to be inappropriate in nature.

Ruffin was interviewed and subsequently arrested for Indecent Solicitation of a Child. He was later transported to the Peoria County Jail.

This incident remains under investigation.
