(PEORIA, IL) Sunday, February 12, 2023, at approximately 3:23 a.m. Peoria Police were dispatched to a local hospital on a report of a male being dropped off by private vehicle with a serious stab wound.
When officers arrived, they located the adult male victim with an apparent stab wound to his neck. The victim’s injuries were found to be life threatening.
Witnesses told police the victim was stabbed while trying to break up a fight outside a local business.
During the course of the investigation, Patrol Officers located a crime scene in the 400 block of MacArthur. Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) and Crime Scene Unit (CSU) responded to the area and initiated an investigation.
There is currently no suspect information. This incident is under investigation.
UPDATE
(PEORIA, IL) During the course of this investigation Peoria Police Detectives were able to identify a suspect as 50-year-old Johnny Jackson.
Friday, March 24, 2023, at approximately 6:07 p.m. members of the Peoria Police Department’s Special Investigations Division (SID) located Jackson at a business in the 100 block of N. Main Street in East Peoria.
Peoria and East Peoria Police officers entered the business and placed Jackson into custody without incident.
Jackson was transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes and subsequently arrested for two counts of Aggravated Battery and two outstanding warrants. He was then transported to the Peoria County Jail.
