[ARCHIVED] Death Investigation (UPDATE)

 Previously Reported: 

(Peoria, IL) – Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at approximately 10:46 am, Peoria Police responded to the area of the 600 block of Northeast Water Street regarding what appeared to be a body floating in the river. Upon arrival, officers along with Peoria Fire Department River Rescue were directed to an area of the river just north of Riverplex where the body was located and recovered. Information regarding the identity of the individual, as well as the manner and cause of death, will be released by the Peoria County Coroner, also on scene. 

Update 3/31/2022: Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood issued a statement concluding, victim, Tamara Schaidle (58 years of age) received injuries consistent with blunt force trauma and drowning by another. This death investigation is now a homicide investigation. During the course of investigation, detectives determined Schaidle was last seen walking on Monday, March 20, 2023. Schaidle walked from Morton Street into the Constitution Garden Park near the Dan Fogelberg Memorial. Schaidle was wearing a black coat, blue jeans, and white shoes. The Peoria Police Department is requesting assistance from the public, seeking any information about Tamara Schaidle or information about this incident.
