(PEORIA, IL) Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at approximately 7:36 p.m. Peoria Patrol Officers responded to the 2000 block of S. Oregon regarding trouble with a male. When officers arrived, they observed an adult male, identified as 24-year-old Desmond M. Turner standing on the front steps of a residence. Officers recognized Turner as a suspect in recent robberies. Turner was immediately detained without incident. Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) responded to the scene and a short time later obtained a search warrant for the residence. During a search of Turner’s residence officers located several items that connected Turner to recent armed robberies. Police also located and seized a handgun with an extended magazine. Turner was transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes and subsequently arrested for Armed Robbery (4 counts), Attempted Armed Robbery and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (4 counts). Turner was transported to the Peoria County Jail. This incident is still under investigation. UPDATE: 4/12/2023 At approximately 1:06 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, officers with PPD’s Special Investigations Division (SID) located 30-year-old Jerrell L. Hardges, a wanted subject outside a residence in the 1300 block of S. Westmoreland. As officers approached the subject identified as 30-year-old Jerrell L. Hardges he ran inside the residence and out the backdoor. After a brief foot chase Hodges was apprehended in the 1300 block of S. Stanley and placed into custody. Hardges was transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes and subsequently arrested for 3 counts of Armed Robbery and Resisting Police. He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
