[ARCHIVED] CSO Year 2 Control Project construction to begin Monday, May 8

CSO Year 2 Map

Beginning Monday, May 8, construction work will start on S Blaine Street and S Warren Street for the Year 2 Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Control Project. No parking will be allowed on S Blaine Street and S Warren Street between W Howett Street and W Butler Street during this phase of the project.

The CSO Control Year 2 project is a two-year project that has a completion date of Fall 2024. The first year of the CSO Control Year 2 project will focus on the area between W Howett Street, W Kettelle Street, S Western Avenue, and S McArthur Highway. Construction will start on S Blaine Street and S Warren Street and move East through the project limits.

The CSO Year 2 Project is part of the effort to reduce CSO discharges into the Illinois River as part of a federal consent decree with the U.S. EPA. CSO Control projects use green infrastructure to reduce stormwater flow into storm sewers and reduce the CSO discharge into the Illinois River.
